COSTA RICA IS REOPENING FOR TOURISM TODAY SEPTEMBER 1

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

Costa Rica! Do you love it? This place is very special to me. In 2019 I was able to plan a trip for some of my favorite people in this world, we made memories that I will keep forever in my heart, and honestly, this is one of the places I am looking forward to visiting again.

Costa Rica opens its border today; here is some information you should consider if you are planning a trip to Pura Vida country.

Entry requirements

As of September 1, Costa Rica will allow the entry by air of international tourists from the United States of America as long as they are residents of one of the following six states: New York, New Jersey, Nuevo Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, or Connecticut. As of September 15th Colorado, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania will be permitted to travel Costa Rica.

Four requirements apply to enter Costa Rica:

  • Complete the epidemiological digital form called HEALTH PASS.

  • Perform the PCR test and obtain a negative result; the test must be taken 48 hours before the flight to Costa Rica.

  • Mandatory travel insurance that covers accommodation in case of quarantine and medical expenses due to COVID illness. Insurance can be international or purchased from Costa Rican insurers.

  • Additionally, American passengers must demonstrate through their driver's license that they live in one of the states that are being authorized.
